1918: When the Occult World May Have Met the Modern Grey

Did occultist Aleister Crowley make 'First Contact' with a grey alien in 1918?

The year was 1918... long before Roswell. This may have represented the year of First Contact with what many consider the modern, 20th-century grey alien. This was when Aleister Crowley met LAM.

WHO was Aleister Crowley? Crowley was a well-bred, well-educated Englishman, born in October of 1875, who went on to be a prolific writer and founder of the Thelema belief system. ("Thelema" is a Greek word meaning "will"; the Law of Thelema simply put: "Do what thou wilt".)

WHAT was Aleister Crowley? Well, he was a husband, father, poet, novelist, painter, occultist, mountaineer, possibly a sex and drug addict and maybe even a spy.

After being raised under fundamentalist Christian teachings, Crowley turned to the occult after leaving university, and became a member of England's Golden Dawn occult society in 1898. Around 1900, he traveled to the East and gained knowledge of yoga and Oriental mysticism. Following a 1904 honeymoon in Egypt, his wife, Rose, began experiencing trances from which she learned the Egyptian god, Horus, wished to contact Crowley. Soon after, while secluded in his chamber, Crowley wrote what was dictated to him by Horus. These writings became "Liber AL vel Legis," or "The Book of the Law," and, according to Crowley, marked a new age governed by the Law of Thelema.

In 1906, Crowley and George Cecil Jones created a magical order called the A.’. A.’. (Astrum Argentium or Silver Star), and this became the mode for the transmission of Crowley's mystical and magical training system that was based on the ideas of Thelema.

During a performance of Ceremonial Magick in 1918, Crowley claimed to have opened a type of 'portal' through which he met LAM, an interdimensional entity or intelligence that looked strikingly similar to what we have come to know as a grey.

Crowley is remembered today because he pushed the boundaries of turn-of-the-century society as an occultist and ceremonial magician. Since his time, many groups have formed that have followed the teachings of Thelema and claimed to have also contact LAM.

Where did this "interdimensional" being come from? Could it have come from another dimension? Space? Was it a Satanic being?

What do you think?
